List building, list building, list building. All you hear these days is “Build your list” but it is not always that easy to get someone to enter their name and address.
Now they don’t have to because MaxBlogPress Subscribers Magnet does that for them. When anyone visits your page, their name and address is automatically added to the subscribers opt-in form and all they have to do is click.
By using this plugin, you can build a list a lot faster than ever before and you have options to have unobtrusive opt-ins in your footer, sidebar and bottom of blog post.
You can have your visitor comments auto listed on your autoresponder and send them an auto-generated ‘thank you’ with confirmation link AND you can embed the opt-in in the comments so when a visitor comments and looks for his comment … he sees an opt-in above his comment which has automatically filled in his name and address.
By adding a subscribe check box in the comments box you get another chance to grab that name and address when anyone wants to comment on you posts.
And there is the old favorite … the Pop-in. Not loved by everybody but effective.

I have had a lot of success building my list by offering “free memberships’ to blogs and similar types of sites using WordPress. Plus, since there are a lot of plugins, like Magic Members, that will automatically add free subscribers to your main list as well as your membership site list, you will be able to contact them even if they cancel their membership. Adding a free trial period to regular membership sites can build your list in the same way. The key is making sure that they are being added to both lists (membership site list and the main list).
